Though a small park this tiger reserve in India boasts of highest density of tigers. The rugged terrain hill tops and valleys with dense forests and marshy grasslands are home to diverse flora and fauna on earth. Declared as National Park and subsequently a tiger reserve under Project Tiger program in India Bandhavgarh is one of the main tiger conservation center in India. Apart from tiger conservation helps protect all life forms. Under the National Park act no human activity is allowed in the preserve except patrolling by the administration. Tourism is allowed in a limited area for tiger safari for travelers to see the tiger in wilderness. The major mammals seen in the park are tiger, leopard, wild dog, jackal, sloth bear, deer like sambar and Chital. Other species commonly seen are langur, macaque, wild boar and barking deer. Four horned deer is less seen while hyena and Indian wolf are seen outside the park in open forests. Numerous reptiles can be seen in the park like python, russel's viper, krait, cobra, rat snake and keel backs. Bird species abound in the National Park. Best season for bird watching tours is winters whence migratory birds arrive at Bandhavgarh National Park. For birding and tiger safaris it is the best place in Central India. There are many wildlife resorts and luxury hotels in Bandhavgarh National Park for accommodation. It is easy to find suitable accommodation except in holiday season when hotel accommodations are full. The tiger preseve can be reached from New Delhi by overnight rail. While nearest airport is Jabalpur which is about 175 kilometers from the park. Bandhavgarh can also be reached from Kahjuraho temples which are about seven to eight hours drive. Kipling made Pench Forests at Seoni Hills memorable with his "Jungle Book". The tigers have taken the name forward and made it a World famous destination. The tiger resides here and so do number of exotic animals that were a part of the famous Kipling story. Pench offers one of the best wildlife and tiger sightings in Central India. The major mammal species are of course the tiger and the leopard among the carnivores. Pench has good population of Indian bison or gaur and the ubiquitous spotted deer. The sambar deer is the heaviest that I have seen anywhere. Indian wolf is less seen and so is sloth bear. The leopard sightings are more common here then in Kanha National Park and Bandhavagrh Tiger Reserve. The wild tiger safari at Pench is an exciting way to see the tiger and other wildlife in the park. A trek along the forest belt in your hotel at Pench will fetch some exciting small mammals for your camera or evn a leopard. The Pench hotels are situated along the forested belt hence accord the best nature treks nearby. The naturalist guide do have a good idea where to conduct nature treks for sighting small game and birds. The park has exciting bird life and much has yet to be discovered. The checklist of birds of Pench has not been made yet and I will not be surprised if a bird survey fetches more bird species than Kanha and Bandhavgarh Parks. The best way to arrive at Pench is to take a flight from Delhi and drive 80 kms to Pench or drive approx two hundred kilometers from Jabalpur which has a rail head and an airport. For budget travelers bus service is the best option especially air conditioned buses that ply between Jabalpur and Nagpur in Maharastra. Who organizes your tiger safari? For most tourists coming from outside India i.e. UK, France, Germany and whole of Europe and America travel arrangements for India travel is something that has to be taken care of. The best method is to go online and search for India travel agents who are involved in ecotourism and conduct tiger safari.
These tiger tour operaters are best equipped to offers booking at best tiger destinations in India. With proper travel arrangements in India you can be rest assured of good tiger sighting in places like Kanha, Pench and Bandhavgrah Tiger reserves.
Not all travel agents can conduct tiger safaris as it is different from booking accomodation and transportation in a big city like Delhi. The tiger tour operators know all about the ecotourism destinations that offer best place to see that Indian tiger. Be careful those who offer assured sighting of the white tiger are just being big mouths. What I mean that apart from looking for the right place to see the Indian bengal tigers you should no seek adventure that is unnrealistic since all know that white tiger is the rearest animal and has not been sighted again since it was first discovered near Bandhavgarh National Park in Central India.
Hotel and travel packages differ in wildlife camps, resorts and lodges at tiger reserves from the package in big city luxury hotels. Tiger resorts offer plans as the Jungle plan which specifically caters to eco tourists those intersted in watching tiger and Indian birds. If youtravel through the length and breadth of India you will experience life as it unfolds in the torms of the heat and dust. Form bullock carts to latest trendy cars you see on the same road. From sky scrapers to dainty village huts. This is where the tiger lives (its last strong hold) and to see the tiger you must make a tiger safari that is a pilgrimage to tiger lovers, photographers and naturalist who wished to conserve this endangered animal. Tiger tour is as exciting as India is and the animal tiger in the wild is an epitome of beauty that is angelic and divine nad as graceful as the Indian tiger is. The best places in India to see the majestic tiger are Indian tiger reserves as Kanha, Bandhavagrh and Pench. Thse destinations offer the best chance to see the tigers in the wilderness of Jungles. Incidentally they harbor the highest density of tiger population. The other wild life sighting here is also fantastic and one can see herds of deers like the spotted deer, sambar and the Barasingha at Kanha.
Bird life is also interesting here and these are good birding destination apart from being the best reserves with tigers. Tiger safari and tiger tour operators offer the best lodging and boarding packages to the tourists visiting these national parks. There are luxurious and economical resorts, wildlife camps and hotels offering the best deals to the tourist visiting these destinations.
These are ideal destinations for tiger photography and many tiger or nature photographers visit these parks to photograph tigers and other wild life of India. Major films like "The Land Of The Tiger" have been made here. Major wild life film producers and photographers are regular visitor here. The best period for tiger photography and wildlife filming is the hot bright summer months of April and May
